Born in Caracas, Raquel is a Venezuelan-born artist, fashion designer, and mother currently based in Austin, Texas.

Her nomadic path, as part of a military family that relocated every 4 years, profoundly shaped her inner life and creative voice. In each new place, painting became her anchor, and a way to observe, process, and root herself wherever she landed.

Racusin’s work is an ongoing inner quest: an exploration of vulnerability, identity, and the soul’s evolution. Her practice is intuitive rather than planned, allowing each painting to reveal itself organically. On canvas, she layers brushstrokes that are naked, raw, and honest. She honors imperfection, emotional transparency, and lived experience. Each piece reflects her inner landscape: emotional, instinctive, and deeply personal.

Her art is inspired by the chapters of her life and led to her first successful solo exhibition, Tal y como soy (As I Am), in San Antonio, Texas, and participation in the contemporary art festival Luminaria. She has also exhibited at Texas State University as part of the Artists of Central Texas series.

My journey has been anything but ordinary, yet I am not unique; we all carry stories within us. I simply choose to tell mine through art.
